Brian Cohen
Chief Executive Officer

Director
Mr. Cohen is the co-founder of SemEquip as well as Chief Executive Officer, President and Board Member. Mr. Cohen previously served as manager of new business for Sumikin Bussan Corporation, a $10 billion Japanese trading company specializing in steel, food, and textiles. He received a B.A. with high honors from Brandeis University in 1988.

Thomas Horsky Ph.D.
Executive Vice President
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Horsky is co-founder of SemEquip and the inventor of the SemEquip ClusterIon® Source. Prior to co-founding SemEquip, he served as Director of Systems Engineering for Brooks Automation, a leading supplier of cluster tools and wafer handling automation for the semiconductor industry. He has held a variety of research positions, including Chief Scientist for Eaton Corporation Semiconductor Equipment Operations, a major manufacturer of ion implanters, where he headed ion source development and was responsible for commercializing the Extended Life Source, Eaton’s flagship ion source. Prior to joining Eaton, he served as Marketing Product Manager for Balzers, a manufacturer of vacuum process tools and analytical instrumentation. Dr. Horsky has received eighteen patents on ion source and related technologies, and has over fifty publications. He received a B.S. in physics from the University of Texas in 1983, and a Ph.D. in experimental solid-state physics from Brandeis University in 1988.

David Christopher
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Christopher joined SemEquip in August 2004. Prior to SemEquip, he was a director of investment banking and a financial consultant for Bryant Park Capital from 2001 to 2003. From 1997 to 2001 he was vice president of investment banking, for J.P. Morgan Securities, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. From 1992 to 1995, he was an associate for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, an investment banking and equity research firm that was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Christopher received his M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in finance and accounting in 1996. He earned a B.S. in economics and business administration in 1990 at the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Mr. Christopher has conducted additional post-graduate studies at the Harvard Business School.

Dale Jacobson, Ph.D.

Chief Scientist
Dr. Jacobson joined SemEquip in August 2001. Prior to SemEquip, Dr. Jacobson was a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories for 22 years where he conducted independent research in high-energy ion implantation, diffusion of impurities in silicon and the physics of integrated circuit and optoelectronics processes. Dr. Jacobson supervised ion implantation processes in the research fabrication line at Bell Labs and represented AT&T/Lucent/Agere at Sematech. He is the holder of six patents in the fields of materials science, and electronic and optoelectronics device processing and has recently filed six additional patent applications. He is widely published in professional journals, has edited three books in the field of materials science, and has presented talks at dozens of professional societies and conferences. Prior to working at Bell Labs he was on the design team for the stealth fighter prototype at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

Wade Krull, Ph.D.
Vice President, Process Technology
Dr. Krull joined SemEquip in April 2001. Previously, he was Chief Process Engineer for Axcelis Technologies (previously Eaton SEO) and leader of the process control development group for the ion implant division. His main activities involved development of advanced dosimetry systems and contamination control for all ion implant applications. While at Axcelis/Eaton (1996-2001), his personal interest was development of low-energy boron ion implant technology. Prior to Eaton, Dr. Krull was vice president of wafer technology for Ibis Technology from 1990 to 1995, where he had responsibility for all process development activities, including externally funded efforts. Prior to Ibis, Dr. Krull was a semiconductor device development engineer with Harris Semiconductor, where he specialized in new transistor structures for extreme environments, including radiation hardened and high-temperature applications. Dr. Krull holds a Ph.D. and M.E. in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and a B.E.E. from Georgia Tech.

Jeff McMullin
Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Mr. McMullin joined SemEquip in September 2006. Prior to joining SemEquip, Mr. McMullin held various account product management positions with Applied Materials in Process Diagnostics & Controls, RTP, Ion Implant, LPCVD, Integrated Gate, CVD, and PVD technologies. Prior to Applied Materials, Jeff was the Rocky Mountain Region Account Manager for Matheson SemiGas. Prior to Matheson, he held various positions with McDermott International Diamond Power Specialty Company including Manager of West Coast Service Centers, Southwest Region Sales Manager, and Northwest Field Engineer. Prior to McDermott International he received a commission in the U.S. Navy and was a nuclear submarine officer and served in various management roles including engineering, nuclear plant operations, quality assurance, and weapons systems. Mr. McMullin holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

Stuart Zerneri
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Zerneri joined SemEquip February, 2005. Prior to SemEquip, Mr. Zerneri was the director of supply chain and director of operations for Brooks Automation, Inc. Mr. Zerneri’s background includes 22 years with Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc., with experience as a quality manager, logistics manager, production and inventory control manager and operations manager. Prior to Varian, he was a captain in the United States Air Force serving as a material management officer. Mr. Zerneri received his M.B.A. from Boston College in 1986 and his M.P.A. from Golden Gate University in 1979. He earned a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in 1975. Mr. Zerneri is also certified in the following areas: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM); Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr); Certified Quality Auditor (CQA); Certified in Resource Management (CIRM); and Certified in Production and Inventory (CPIM).

Doug Adams
Vice President, Engineering and Product Development
Mr. Adams joined SemEquip in December 2004. Prior to joining SemEquip, Mr. Adams served in various capacities including general manager of the vacuum systems product group and director of manufacturing engineering and new product development, at Brooks Automation. He received a commission in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and served eight years as an officer in the naval nuclear submarine service in various management roles including engineering, nuclear power plant operations, quality assurance and ballistic missile systems. Doug received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from WPI. He is a licensed professional engineer and holds five patents.

Richard Goldberg, Ph.D.
Vice President, Research and Development
Dr. Goldberg joined SemEquip in November of 2006. For the previous six years he was with Applied Materials, Implant Division, Horsham, U.K. His most recent responsibility was as head of the Beamline Technology Group, which was responsible for all beamline related aspects of new product development along with continuous improvement and support of the installed base of ion implanters. Prior to joining AMAT, Dr. Goldberg held combined teaching and research positions at The University of Western Ontario from 1993-1998. During this tenure, he conducted research into ion beam induced damage of semiconductor materials using a combination of methods including positron annihilation spectroscopy and was heavily involved in the development of techniques for producing optoelectronic devices using ion beams to intermix quantum well structures. In early 1998 he accepted a position as TCS Research Associate within The Joule Laboratory at the University of Salford. While working in the United Kingdom, Dr. Goldberg ran studies covering a range of topics including ion beam interactions with semiconductor materials and the development of novel ion sources for industrial applications. Dr. Goldberg has a first class BSc.(Hons.) degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne and has published more than 90 scientific papers, authored over a dozen patents and has delivered presentations at numerous international conferences and institutions.

Dennis K. Manning
Vice President, Chemical Operations
Mr. Manning joined SemEquip in December 2004. Prior to SemEquip, he served as the technical services and production manager for Degussa in the Jayhawk Fine Chemicals Facility from 2001 to 2003. Mr. Manning’s background includes 10 years with Eagle-Picher Industries in both research and development and specialty chemical manufacturing. Four years were spent as process engineering and design engineering manager within the Eagle-Picher boron facility directing new product development and process optimization. Previous experience emphasized large scale processing in the petro-chemical industry focusing on international cooperative development projects. Mr. Manning holds a B.S. degree in chemistry and a M.S. degree in chemical engineering. He holds three patents.

Sonja Cook, Ph.D.
Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety, Quality Assurance
Dr. Cook joined SemEquip in 2004. Prior to joining SemEquip, Dr. Cook held the positions of Quality Assurance Manager for Pylon Atlantic in Dartmouth, NS, and Laboratory Director for Brooks Laboratories in Norwalk, CT. Dr. Cook’s experience includes development and maintenance of quality management systems, including ISO 9001:2000, environmental and regulatory compliance, transportation of dangerous goods, and import/export management. Dr. Cook has authored several papers in the environmental field, and has presented talks at national and international conferences.  Dr. Cook holds a Ph.D in Civil Engineering (Engineering for the Environment) from the University of Calgary.

Kevin S. Cook, Ph.D.
Vice President, Research and Development – Chemical Operations
Dr. Cook joined SemEquip Materials Inc. in December, 2003. Prior to joining SemEquip, he received his Ph.D  from the University of Calgary under the direction of Prof. Warren E. Piers, and held a NSERC postdoctoral fellowship with Professor John F. Hartwig at Yale University. Past research areas include synthesis of early and late metal based organometallic compounds and general reactivity and catalytic behavior thereof, synthesis and reactivity of new boron based ligands, borataalkenes, and mechanistic aspects of functionalization of hydrocarbons with boron ester groups. Dr. Cook has several peer reviewed publications in leading chemistry journals, and has presented at a number of international conferences.
